building love

industrial designer david hurlbut bought this 20,000 sq ft building in shambles and filled with pigeon defecation for $100,000 in Selma, AL and then spent another $150,000 in renovations, i love his style and aesthetic, i'd love to find something like this downtown (here in chas) for a price like that, any ideas??? ha!

i'll start looking for furniture, we are probably going to need a few more pieces to fill up the space.

industrial kitchens

in addition to our big open living room (with an ostrich hanging from the ceiling) i really love our kitchen, it is definitely the nicest kitchen i've ever had, and it got me thinking what i like other than lay out in a kitchen, i.e. storage solutions, counter top material, appliances, extra furniture.....
these photos i found over at desire to inspire, a great blog from australia

i especially love, love the red appliances, white walls, and old fans in this kitchen

and i love the reclaimed wood and brushed stainless, mmmmm....

headed to NC this weekend for my first "long ride", wish me luck!!!!

and then there were four

a while back i posted about projects i was working on, well......
to fruition!!

this is the first light fixture i fabricated for our dining room back in july
inspired by the work of lindsay adelman

and this is the one i fabricated for our kitchen

and these are the two new ones, the first i posted about earlier, you can see what it originally looked like when i purchased it, it required tons of grinding to get the layers of brown lead paint off, and probably years off my life as i was wearing no mask and coughed and sneezed for days to follow.

and the final fixture was inspired by a post on apartment therapy

and that should be it for a while as far as fixtures go........
(cue brow wipe)

all pictures shot on my iphone, don't be jealous of our awesome popcorn ceilings!!!
